Florida requires state certification from the Department of Health's Bureau of Emergency Medical Oversight to work as a paramedic. Candidates must graduate from a CAAHEP-accredited paramedic program and pass the NREMT Paramedic exam within 2 years of finishing the course. Certification renews every 2 years, with first-time renewals exempt from continuing education but required to hold current CPR/ACLS.
