Georgia issues CDLs through the Department of Driver Services (DDS). You can apply at 18, but restrictions apply until 21, when interstate driving and hazmat hauling open up. First-time Class A/B applicants need a Commercial Instructional Permit held at least 14 days, completion of federal Entry-Level Driver Training (required since February 2022), a DOT medical exam, and passing knowledge plus 3-part skills tests.
