Georgia does not license medical assistants - the Georgia Composite Medical Board's licensed professions (physicians, PAs, respiratory care professionals, perfusionists, and others) do not include MAs. Medical assistants work under physician delegation and supervision with no state exam or hour requirement. A voluntary national certification such as the CMA (AAMA) or CCMA (NHA), typically earned in 9-12 months of training or via apprenticeship, is what most Georgia employers look for.
