Practical Nursing (LPN/LVN) licensing in Georgia: State license required

Georgia requires an LPN license from the Georgia Board of Nursing, which operates under the Secretary of State's office (the former separate Board of Examiners of Licensed Practical Nurses merged into it in 2013). Applicants must graduate from a board-approved practical nursing program, pass a fingerprint background check, pay a $40 application fee through the GOALS portal, and pass the NCLEX-PN; licenses renew every two years for $65. Georgia is an enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact state, so multistate licenses are available to Georgia residents.
