Massage Therapy licensing in Texas: State license required

Texas requires a state license from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation to practice or even advertise massage therapy. Applicants need 500 hours of education from a licensed massage school, a passing score on the MBLEx plus the Texas Jurisprudence Exam (or the TDLR state exam, which includes Texas law), and a fingerprint background check. Licenses renew every two years.
