Texas does not license or register medical assistants - you can be hired with no state credential. MAs work under physician delegation authorized by Texas Occupations Code Chapter 157, overseen by the Texas Medical Board. Most employers prefer or require a voluntary national certification such as the CMA (AAMA) or CCMA (NHA), typically earned after a 9-12 month training program or an apprenticeship/work-experience route.
