Illinois does not license or register medical assistants - IDFPR issues no MA credential. Section 54.2 of the Medical Practice Act (225 ILCS 60) lets physicians delegate patient-care tasks to trained unlicensed staff in office settings as long as a licensed health professional is on site. Note the Medical Practice Act carries a scheduled repeal/renewal date of January 1, 2027, so delegation rules may be updated; voluntary certifications like the CMA (AAMA) or CCMA (NHA) remain the standard employer expectation.
